There are many types of airshafts available on the market today. Two basic choices determine the airshaft that is appropriate for your application - shaft weight and type of gripping element. Double E specializes in lightweight carbon fiber airshafts, and also offers traditional steel and aluminum models. For more information about either type, please click the links below. Both of these airshaft models use lugs as gripping elements. Double E Lightweight Carbon Fiber Air Shafts The two most common gripping elements for air shafts are lugs (lug shafts) and external strips (strip shafts / external element shafts). Lug shafts can be made in carbon fiber for high strength and light weight, or in aluminum or steel. The links above will take you to more information about each type. Strip shafts are typically used for rewinding multiple slit rolls of web material. This type of air shaft uses independent bladders beneath the gripping element. When inflated, these bladders force the strips to grip the inner core diameter.
